The foot notes in Subsistence, what source do they belong to?
Bryant, I added your intro to this page. We should probably add more to this section…I will work on it later unless someone else feels the need. Also, if you have better information on the different terms (Aeta, Negrito, etc.) add it in or change what I wrote.
I also tried to play around with picture layout. That map is so huge, I might try to make it smaller. I don't know if you guys like text wrapped around the photos or not. The nifty little [[div]] ~~~~~ [[/div]] stops the wrapping.
It is important that you note the sources of the images on this page
More pictures:
These are P. Bion's photos…waiting for response as to permission to use them.
We can use pictures from this site:
http://www.peoplesoftheworld.org/text?people=Aeta
This is the response I was given:
Dear Emily,
You may use our images on your web site. But please copy them from our web
site because "deep linking" to them will not work.
Please also acknowledge us on your web site. And include the words "used
with permission."
Regards,
POTW
We're meeting in the Hughes Reading room to discuss the Wiki. 11-?
the Aeta is a larger group name given to the many "negrito" groups found within the Philippine islands so should i switch Aeta out and say what it means or just state that negrito is actually the current anthropological and popular culture classification for the Aeta and Agta (according to griffin 1999)?
Could we move the links to the Ainu pages to an external links section at the bottom of the page?
Could we also write a brief general introduction to the South-East Foragers page?
added sections on social organization and kinship. theres probably more info out there in the other sources you guys have. ive only used woman the gatherer here.
i will deal with the women hunting next in the subsistence section.
I fixed my citation for the woman the hunter though i dont know the page numbers of the other two sources. the block quote needs to have both authors because there are only two cited for that work. if there are three or more then you cite it with an et al after the first author.
fixed the citation to AAA style
Per our style guide:
Notes and resources should be cited according to AAA/Chicago style. All included quotations should be referenced and cited as in a research term paper. Do not use footnotes; only in text citations, for example (Kelly 1995:4).
So, I think we need to remove the footnotes
The descriptions of most of the groups are quite sparse. I pulled them almost directly from the overview of their respective pages. If someone from each group could add maybe one or two key points about the society, that would be great.
This is a work-in-progress. Please add/change as you see fit.
I added some post 1900s subsistence stuff. the first line of the subsistence section is most likely incorrect though i didnt change it. the agta have been found for a long time to trade meat for other food items like grains but before that they were described as "strictly hunter gatherers" in woman the hunter so i dont know how we should change it.
I added the citation for Woman the hunter and also changed around the citations at the end and numbered them with superscripts in text with the corresponding number at the bottom. I dont know if you want to do full on footnotes or not though, because if we do that the footnote would like straight to the reference that it refers too at the bottom of the page.
I added the citation. also I added a references section here too.
I added a (very) brief intro to the agta on the east asian foragers page, I will go back and cite it later today. Bryant
The ethnographic present is more challenging to assess for the ethnological articles that pertain to the Kalahari Debate.
